First of all, thank you for creating TrackdayR! As an avid motorcyclist who enjoys playing sims to "get my fix" when I'm not riding in the real world, I've been looking forward to this release! (Track days are expensive, but I can hop into a sim any time day or night!) I'm excited to be part of the early release community and hope that I can provide feedback that will allow this game to reach its full potential.

I think the game shows a lot of promise so far, and am looking forward to seeing it develop further!  Here are some of my thoughts after my first couple of sessions (about 1 hr of gameplay at this point):

  • Physics feel "slippery" - the bikes feel extremely twitchy, like they are floating over the surface of the track, and don't "track" or hold a line.  It almost like the feeling of riding on ice (although it's not exactly accurate to describe the feeling as "not having traction" since the tires aren't slipping). I have to constantly make small steering inpus to maintain a line; however, the bikes are highly sensitive to even small inputs.  The result is that the steering feels very twitchy/squirrely.  The problem seems to be worse the taller the bike is (it's easier to handle the Ohvales, whereas the pit bikes were nearly uncontrollable).
  • Related to the comment above - it would be great if users could control the sensitivity, deadzone, and response curve of controllers within the game.  I think this would be a valuable feature, and one I haven't seen in other moto sims. (I appreciate that you've included a brake linearity setting - would be great to have this option for steering inputs as well.)
  • I was amused that I had to bump start the bike after I crashed... the first 5 times.  Then it got really tiresome.  It would be great if there was an option to bypass the process of picking up the bike and bump starting it after a crash.  (Hold down a controller button for 3 sec, etc.)
  • UI/Menus are a little clunky at the moment - things I would love to see:
    - Pressing ESC in the Box would open a menu that allows me to return to main menu or exit the game directly
    - Pressing ESC on track would give me an option to exit the game
    - Make the selection of bikes and tracks progress in a linear fashion - once you choose the bike size, it prompts you to choose bike model, then it automatically changes the menu to track selection. Hitting ESC at any step backs you up to the previous step. Hitting ESC at the Bike menu would back you out to the main menu.
    - Would be great if you could change race options (auto shift, show line) in the Box, without having to back out to the main menu
    - Enable controller input in the menus
  • I would love it if you had a "semi-auto" transmission feature - allow user to manually down/up shift in addition to auto shifts.
  • I don't understand the distinction between "steering" vs. "leaning."  The right stick (mapped to "steering") doesn't seem to do anything at the moment. Can you also clarify what the "digital rear brake" toggle does?

Thanks again for creating this game!  The main issue right affecting my enjoyment of the game currently is the steering feel of the bikes. I'm excited about the game, and hope you take my suggestions as positive and constructive feedback - thanks!

Quick update after some more time in the game:

Turning the "lean smooth" and "smooth input" off completely helped a lot.  The bikes feel much more natural to me without any smoothing.  I still find that the controls are "twitchy" and it would be helpful if we could adjust controller sensitivity, response curves and deadzone in game.

Hello all,

I just bought the game yesterday, and it feels it has a lot of potential, i used to mod Motogp2 (Motogp 2 2006 mod, etc) back in the old days.

So that is one of te reasons why i am interested in this one 🙂

Back to topic.

Yes i fully agree about slippery and twitchy feeling although the 675 bike in cockpit view feels pretty good.

about deadzone and stick/trigger sensivity i use this =>  [Please login to see the link] (brilliant programm).

after setting it up it feels a little better.

P.S

Ingame set *smoothness* or whatever its called to 0 (zero) this also helps.

Thx devs for creating this 🙂
